A local author, who is a former pupil of the school, kindly donated two books to the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) this week.
Lynn Williams, who was at pupil at Oken High School (as Myton School was known), presented copies of her history publications to student librarians on Tuesday.
Warwick Then & Now is a fascinating photo publication with captions detailing the changes in post-war Warwick; and The Little Book of Warwickshire, explains the eclectic mix of industries, agriculture, crime and punishment, history, geology, myths & legends, and social history in the county. Both are rated highly on Amazon.
The students (pictured above, left to right: Victor, Layla, Alfie and Ellie), listened as Lynn talked through the process of creating a book – from research to finding a publisher. In Lynn’s case two publishers offered her a deal for each work. The children then had an opportunity for questions.
Lynn said “It has been a pleasure to be able to contribute a small gift to the school where I was once a pupil over sixty years ago. I wish you all the very best.”
Also pictured with Lynn is LRC Assistant Miss Sharpe (below left) who has now created a local history display (right) for students visiting the LRC.
Thank you, Lynn – we look forward to reading the books!
