A fashion graduate ex student of Myton has written to the Head of Art to thank him for supporting her during her time at school.
Holly Hooker left Myton four years ago to study for an Art Foundation in Coventry before graduating this year with a 2:1 in Fashion Design from Northumbria University. In her university summer breaks Holly has worked as a lifeguard at American summer camps and this year, on her return from a season at Trails End, Pennsylvania (pictured below), she wrote to Mr Meredith saying “I don’t think I ever said how grateful I was for all of your help. You taught me so much, not only in developing my Art, but also in helping me grow as a person so I wanted to say thank you.”
Holly, who is from Warwick, is currently applying for permanent design jobs in the fashion industry after an amazing summer:
“For my final university collection, one of my garments was chosen by Graduate Fashion Week to represent them in a promotional photoshoot. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to go because I was at this year’s US camp,” she said.
“However, my work was spotted and I was featured in a ‘Names to Watch’ article in the June 2022 issue of industry magazine Drapers [pictured below]. I have since been contacted by Fenwick department store who are featuring my design [pictured top] in their Newcastle shop’s ‘Fashion Futures’ window later this month!”
Thank you for your letter to Mr Meredith and congratulations, Holly – everyone at your old school is proud to hear of your success!
