During February half term, 52 students and teachers visited Krakow in Poland. The motivation for the trip was to gain a deeper understanding of the atrocities that happened to Jewish communities during the Second World War.
Students had the privilege of hearing a survivor of the Holocaust recount her harrowing story as a child at Auschwitz. When the students visited Auschwitz the following day, it brought home the horrors of the Holocaust.
As well as visiting a variety of museums and sights around Krakow, they also had free time where they were able to visit the city (and McDonald’s!) themselves.
Our Head of RE and trip organiser, Mrs Collings said: “We had a wonderful time and a very meaningful experience. I am immensely proud of the respect and curiosity demonstrated by the students and the hard work put in by the staff.”
Our guide for the trip has since written to Mr Perry commending the students on their behaviour and attitude. He wrote: “The students were well-behaved, polite, punctual, excellent listeners and clearly engaged with the subjects they had come to study. It was a pleasure to guide them.”
