Congratulations to Year 13’s Sam Cribbett who, after a busy summer of training camps, preparation races and Great Britain (GB) teamwork, is now one of the top canoeists in the world!
Over the last few months Sam (left) has represented GB in the U18 & U23 World Canoe Sprint Championships in Hungary and from there travelled by coach to participate in the Olympic Hopes competition in Slovakia in the 1000m, 500m and 200m races. Prior to this, Sam canoed in the British Marathon Nationals at Worcester where he became K2 British National Champion and second in the K1 class.
On the back of winning the British Nationals he has now qualified for a GB place in the the K1 Junior Men’s Long Distance race at the Marathon World Championships in Ponte De Lima, Portugal at the end of this month.
In a letter to Mr Perry, the Head of Talent for British Canoeing, Rich Ramsdale, said: “These fantastic results and performances are only possible due to the commitment and hard work of Sam and his parents. A fantastic talent and a credit to your school.”
Well done Sam from all of us and good luck in Portugal!
