Thank you to Clare from ZooLab who brought in an array of exotic animals this week to meet some of our Year 7s. Students met Pumpkin the corn snake, Lilly the tree frog, Willow the tarantula, Millie the millipede and some African snails. They also got to learn some fascinating facts about the creatures, including that frogs swallow food with their eyes!
Here’s what Avni from Year 7 had to say about the experience:
“We got to see lots of cool rainforest animals. In Geography, we will be learning about tropical rainforests, so we were learning how the animals have adapted to their environment. I touched a millipede and a very slimy snail which live in the shrub layer of the rainforest. There was also a very cool green frog that could change colours! I did not like the tarantula, oh help! I was so scared, but I was brave and looked at it. Lastly, the corn snake with camouflage that matched the school hall floor. I was actually terrified but it was fine!”
