Dear Parents and Carers
A warm welcome to all our students and staff, and a particular welcome to all our new Year 7 and 12 students, those joining us in a handful of other years, and our new staff. You’ve all joined a great school, with fantastic kids, staff and parents in a wonderful community. You’ve also joined a school where we are enjoying having space after the cramped situation last year. Now that we have our new buildings, our Sixth Form block and all our yards back it all feels very spacious around the place. Because of last year, our site is somewhat spread out and will remain so for the next few years as the rebuild happens, your kids will certainly get their step count up. My new vow of walking every corridor every day may need reconsidering, I ended yesterday needing a lie down, suspecting collapsed insteps and demanding a monorail from anyone unfortunate enough to be near my office. Maths and Science may well be in different postcodes now, which socially won’t make a difference (these faculties avoid small talk amongst themselves let alone with each other) but will demand some commitment from kids to get to class on time. Fortunately we do have 5 minute lesson change time which should just about suffice, no excuses!
It has been lovely to see everyone come back this week and it has been a joy to have our site back, to have all our buildings to ourselves and to start the year in such a positive way.
Best wishes
Andy Perry
