Dear Parents and Carers
Some excitement on Monday afternoon. A few minutes after the students started leaving for home, the Air Ambulance began hovering over the school before deciding to land on our field. We’ve seen them hover over the school before but this is the first time they have landed. Given the hundreds of students filming the event on their phones I would assume most people have seen it already – along with a member of staff urging students to “move along, nothing to see here” as a helicopter lands 20 metres behind us. We had lots of staff out in high vis jackets to keep the kids well away from the helicopter which is why they said they decided to land on our field.
Then, of course, the rumours started about why the Air Ambulance had landed at Myton, and as they left, the rumours got continually more elaborate (including, I understand, that it was here due to “Perry’s inevitable heart attack!”). However, I can confirm that they were attending an incident a little further up Myton Road and our field was the ideal place to park the helicopter. I can also confirm that the students were all really responsible and considerate about the whole thing. They filed past the incident along the road without dwelling or trying to take too much notice, understanding the seriousness of what was going on.
Another first for Myton in a term that has included plenty of new experiences and challenges!
Best wishes
