Dear Parent and Carers
The last few weeks have seen us host our own Open Evening and also two Open Evenings for the new Oakley School. Attendance at these events has been great and feedback from visitors is really positive. Thanks goes to all those who have been at any of these evenings. Our Sixth Form Open Evening will be taking place on Thursday 10 November and we look forward to welcoming more visitors at that time – see details on our website.
Our relationship with the new Oakley School is already strong and, for their first year, they will be located in the new building at the front of our site whilst their own school is completed. Oakley School will be part of the Stowe Valley Multi Academy Trust with whom we already have a strong relationship; the Heads of Department of all the secondary schools in the Trust meet to share best practice, there are strong links between senior leaders and, together, we review provisions at all the schools. The fact that Oakley School will be sharing a site with us during their first year means that the collaboration can go further and benefit even more students – having two schools on one site creates many opportunities and we are enjoying discussing these with the leadership of Stowe Valley.
All these projects are led by Warwickshire County Council. As schools have become Academies, the relationship between the local council and schools has been increasingly distant. However, over the last year as we have worked with the council, we have seen such a determination to do everything they can to get this right for the students. Every conversation starts and ends with “what is right for all the students in this community” and when we operate with these shared values things get done.
As for our new building, it is on schedule, the groundwork and footings are pretty much done and we look forward to it rising from the ground, starting with the steel, over the coming weeks.
Thank you
Andy Perry – Head Teacher
