Dear Parent and Carers
With events nationally and then the cyber attack on us, I have yet to say welcome back after the summer break (which feels like a very long time ago now). It’s always great to see the kids come back and they have been very brilliant through this last couple of weeks. I am also delighted with the new uniform, it looks very smart and I look forward to seeing the whole school move towards it over the next couple of terms.
With circumstances as they are, we haven’t launched some of our new strategies as we’d have wished but we are getting back on top of things and will be back on the front foot very soon. I would like to thank parents and carers for their patience with this as well. There is nothing new to share but it is worth noting again that our canteen tills are working offline at the moment. When they go back online, they will start to read from ParentPay and the backed up costs will come out rather suddenly. In terms of student coursework in years 11 and 13, we are getting a student by student audit of the gaps and working with exam boards on solutions, we will discuss these with groups, individuals and families as we go on.
In the meantime, I will leave you with the words of one long standing member of staff who, when approached to look at the impact of this cyber attack, was asked “what have you lost?” He forlornly replied “I’ve lost everything, my vigour, my youth.” Turns out everything else was on paper – he looks quite pleased with himself now.
Thank you
Andy Perry – Head Teacher
