Dear Parents and Carers
A great effort by everybody last Friday in raising over £3800 for charities supporting in the Ukraine, we are very proud of all our kids and their support for this. I hope for a similar effort today so we can raise a good total for the Red Nose Day charity. Thank you to everyone.
I was delighted to welcome our friends and colleagues from Coten End School this week as part of our collaboration work. The purpose of the event was to introduce the subject curriculum leads at Coten End to their counterparts at Myton. This is important so we can be sure that our curriculum choices build on the study in year 6, that where possible subject specific language is consistent and that we have an idea of how the curriculum has been adjusted in response to the pandemic. The second key objective of this event was to share assessment expectations; ensuring that the expectations we have at Myton build on those of our primary partners and that our colleagues in primary can see what and how we assess in foundation subjects. Transition between primary school and secondary school is vital and we invest a great deal in making sure students are familiar with Myton before they arrive and they feel safe and secure once here so they can learn. Of course, it is then due to events like our Coten End visit that we can be sure that we are challenging all our students appropriately when they join us. Many thanks to Mrs Fairhurst for leading this part of our school improvement and for working with all our primary partners. Thanks also to Mr Roberts at Coten End for leading from his side of the park – I look forward to continuing our collaboration with all our primary colleagues.
Best wishes
Andy Perry – Head Teacher
