Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you to all those who sent in kind words in response to the last weekly news on February 14 February.
Next week is secondary offer day, where the parents of current Year 6 children find out where their child is going to school in September. Each year we ask our Year 7s to write to the children in their own old school and let them know what it is like to start at Myton. It seems an opportune moment to share some of their thoughts with you.
“The subject I enjoy most is PE as it gets you active and you don’t sit behind a desk. I also enjoy Design Technology as you get to use pewter (metal) which you melt into a mould to make a keyring, fridge magnet or a badge.” – Andrew
“My favourite part of Myton is that all the clubs are free!! There are lots of options too. You have the choice of football to rugby to dance to hockey to trampolining and even more. There are also clubs like instrument clubs, vocal and tech group and drama club.” – Ellie
“When I am doing art I have crazy ideas for my art piece. My teacher also helps me by putting music on to give me inspiration for what to do. Art also makes me feel relaxed when I am stressed, helping me concentrate in other lessons too. And from the look of my previous art pieces, I have to say I’ve improved a lot, giving me even more confidence to do better.” – Louie
“I’m not a big fan of homework, but I do like the way homework is sent out via an app called ShowMyHomework which notifies you when homework has been set and when it’s due to be done and handed in.” – Kieran
“Myton has so many fun and interesting teachers that make our lessons amazing! PS The food is amazing (especially the cookies).” – Gabriela
“The teachers are very kind and they give a reasonable amount of homework (of course nobody really likes homework but some of it is very fun). The food is scrumptious. We have two big canteens, and two small windows where you can get pizza and snacks.” – Mackenzie
“Don’t be scared about joining because you will meet loads of new friends. If you are a scientist and love doing experiments…. well you can make explosions and use chemicals in your science lessons.” – Rhys
“Let me tell you what secondary school is like…
Firstly, there are activities on every day of the week, from sports to chess. Secondly, the lessons and teachers are amazing – and that’s not a lie. And thirdly, you get as much food as you want. Trust me, Myton is where you want to go.” – Adam
With best wishes
