Dear Parents and Carers
It was a pleasure to meet our new intake this week for Induction Day. The Year 6s had an extremely busy day and enjoyed themselves thoroughly; hopefully they are excited about arriving here next September. We have done a lot of work to evolve the transition from primary to secondary school. We gather more academic information than ever before and meet far more parents of Year 6s to make individual plans where needed. We also plan our curriculum to ensure it immediately challenges the students from the moment they arrive at Myton.
We have a busy week coming up with our Wings production of Pinocchio and the Year 11 and Year 13 Leavers’ Balls. I would like to thank all the staff and students involved in planning and putting on these great events and hope to see many of you in the audience of Pinocchio. The Leavers’ Balls are always great events, although I notice that England v Colombia is now on at the same time as the Year 11 Prom. Hopefully they have some TV screens. We have done our best around school to suppress any hope when it comes to England’s progress in this World Cup. We all know it is the hope that really gets to you when England crashes out on penalties. However, as this tournament has progressed, I have noticed that hope is slowly creeping in, even more so now that England is in the perceived easier half of the draw. I remember similar thoughts being expressed two years ago just before the game versus Iceland…
With best wishes
Andy Perry – Head Teacher
