Congratulations to the Myton team who won the district round in the prestigious Youth Speaks debating competition on Thursday 6 February at Northgate Methodist Church.
Both Myton teams performed brilliantly. The intermediate team spoke about the use of mobile phones in school, and the senior team spoke about whether your holidays do more harm than good. The intermediate team (coached by Mrs Fearn) finished second and the senior team (coached by Mrs Heggs) were victorious and will be in the next round on Saturday 8 February.
The teams were:
- Abbie (Year 13), Thomas (Year 11) and Charlie (Year 12) (senior team – pictured)
- Jacomo (Year 9), Jack (Year 8) and Edward (Year 7) (intermediate team)
Mrs Heggs praised the students: “They are a credit to Myton School and should all be incredibly proud of the work, time and enthusiasm they put into the competition. It was also great to see friends and family supporting in the audience.”
