How many subjects will you study?

The number of subjects – and the choice of subjects – studied by our Sixth Form students depends on their forecast grades and eventual GCSE results.

MOST STUDENTS STUDY 3 SUBJECTS THROUGHOUT YEARS 12 & 13

For most students we would recommend that at least 1 or 2 of their subjects are ‘facilitating subjects’ (see page 6 for an explanation of facilitating subjects).

Everyone also studies the Extended Project Qualification.

SOME STUDENTS STUDY 4 A LEVELS IN YEAR 12 AND EVEN YEAR 13

This is suitable for students who are forecast at least eight A/A* or 7/8/9 at GCSE and who are considering applying to Oxbridge, Medicine, Veterinary Science or other competitive courses.
We would recommend that all their courses are A Levels and at least 3 of their subjects are ‘facilitating subjects’ (see page 6 for an explanation of facilitating subjects).

Completing an EPQ for these students is optional.

SOME STUDENTS WILL STUDY 2 SUBJECTS PLUS RESITS IN ENGLISH AND/OR MATHS

Students will either take 2 subjects and the Extended Project Qualification or 3 subjects without the Extended Project Qualification.
