Initial Teacher Training at Haybridge High School

This term we have had 16 ITT students across departments with a further 12 completing a placement with us in the Spring Term. This year we have introduced within our Induction Programme, training on The Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL). This is a key area we are developing within school. Feedback from the trainees was extremely positive and this has subsequently lead to us applying to become a Lead SEAL School.

This year has also seen us take ITT students from within the area of Citizenship. We wanted to use the students to help us ensure that we ere effectively delivering our Personal Development Curriculum. This joint partnership worked incredibly well and brought about a refreshed approach to the delivery of our Personal Development Curriculum.

We are currently developing an in house mentoring programme which will be delivered to all departments on a rotation basis. We are keen to link in this training to TLA accreditation.

We are also planning this year to engage students more formally in the induction of ITT students. We are training identified Haybridge students to become ‘Training School’ representatives. Their role will be to link with ITT students and be involved in their Induction Programme at different stages.
