We are the latest school in the West Midlands to be granted Training School specialism, with our status commencing from April 2008. At present we have outlined a number of future plans on which to concentrate, some of which build upon the work which has been carried out in school over the past few years.
These areas include; developing and increasing participation in our co-coaching programme which has been accredited through Edgehill University and are working closely with our LA to produce exemplar coaching materials through a TDA funded bid; diverging from observatory classrooms to using our in-classroom CCTV to provide enhanced feedback to ITT trainees and NQTs; to work collaboratively with our LA to provide a structured CPD programme for our teaching and support staff as well as acting as a training hub for other local schools and the community and to include our students in our Training School designation through the use of pupils as observers in ITT trainees lessons. We already work within a close federation of secondary schools in Shrewsbury (SPET) are looking to enhance our role in leading some of the joint projects curriculum areas have been working on.
At present we only have a named Training School Manager, Alison Bell, who has overall charge of all Training School work, with administrator support to be appointed shortly.
