BIOLOGY

 Final details of the specification for Biology are yet to be confirmed but the broad outline is as follows:

 At AS level this course will cover aspects of animal, plant and microbial biology from a detailed study of the molecular ingredients of all living things, to an in depth look at what cells are made of and how they operate and communicate with each other.  There are units on transport, diet, health & disease and also more theoretical aspects of biology such as evolution and classification.  At A2 we study the human body and how its organs work together, including the nervous system, along with more recent advances in molecular biology such gene technology and genomics.
